Pitchside after the Copa del Rey final, Carlos Soler digested the defeat in a post-match interview with VCF Media.
Analysing the defeat
It is sad, but it is what it is. It's the other side of football. It is difficult to assimilate it, but today it was what we got. The team left everything on the pitch. We cannot reproach the group, the fans or anyone else. The fans paid a big part of what they earn to be here, because it was not easy to come here. We apologise for not having been able to bring the cup back to Valencia. Pride is the word.
A tough loss
I felt sad. It was very hard to lose on penalties. We were confident that we could win here in Seville, but today we had to face the tough side of football. As one of the captains, on behalf of everyone, I want to thank the fans. Today we had our season on the line, and it was a shame about what happened. Many players in this squad wanted the second cup, but we have to experience things like that in football.
